Important Scans this week!!!
Written Mar 20, 2012 10:43am by Paula Pittsinger
This Wednesday and Thursday is a huge day for
Brandi. These scans will determine how the various tumors are
responding to her BRAF chemo treatment. We are feeling very positive as
her side effects have been very tough on her...they say that tends to
mean the chemo is working well. We are feeling very positive about
things and she has a new doctor that she has a tremendous amount of
faith and comfort in. Her faith in God and his will continues to remain
strong in her life and I gain so much strength through her own faith as
well. I am so proud she found Christ at a very young age as this I do
believe is what carries and strengthens her. We will keep you updated
later this week.
I am going to post a picture of her mole at a fairly early stage so you all can see how this started. Even though I am a nurse I had no idea how this all could start with this.
God Bless you all and wear your sunscreen!! Victorias Secret has a wonderful tanning lotion that is a great alternative if you need one.-
MRI Results
Written Mar 9, 2012 9:47am by Paula PittsingerWe are so blessed to receive long awaited good news on Brandi's brain tumor! The tumor has shrunk more and there are no new tumors in the brain. The doctor says she doesn't have to do another one for 8 weeks. She has CT scan in 2 weeks to evaluate the other tumors in the body.
The doctors are very pleased with how she is tolerating the BRAF.
Brandi has a new niece today! Emma Is here! Healthy, happy and beautiful! It is a blessed day for our family!! -
Melanoma Staging Chart
Written Mar 1, 2012 7:33am by Paula PittsingerI wanted to post this picture of a Melanoma Staging chart that defines the different stages and characteristics of melanoma. I took this picture in the oncologist office so I hope you can make this out. I realize that since we began this journey there is very little knowledge of what "melanoma" really is.
If this will help even one person understand the dangers of not using sunscreen it will be worth it. Lather those babies up until they are old enough to understand the dangers themselves.
Cherish those you love every single day!!
Week of March 4-11
Written Feb 29, 2012 9:15pm by Paula PittsingerBrandi will go back to Houston next Thursday for a repeat MRI of the brain. This will be to evaluate the stability of the brain tumor. She will also have a follow up EKG and bloodwoork for the chemo treatment. She has been a tough girl although her side effects have been rough on her. Continue to pray for relief and stability of the brain tumor.
On a happy note Brandi will be a new aunt next Friday. Emma Diane Dickey who will be named after her aunt Brandi will make appearance into our world. What great medicine!!
Thank you all for your love, support and continued prayers.
